We are thrilled to announce that MA&CE has been named a finalist in the U. S. Department of Education’s national competition to advance pre-apprenticeships. Ninety-five (95) finalist programs have been selected from across the country to participate in this Rethink Adult Ed Challenge, a $750,000 competition to advance pre-apprenticeships.
MA&CE is invited to join Stage 2 and compete for $750,000 in awards. The finalists hail from 32 states and two territories, and include higher education institutions, local educational agencies, community and faith-based organizations, and correctional facilities.
Participating in this challenge gives us the opportunity to explore new learning and skills-based training experiences for our adult learners in preparing them to be more competitive for middle-skill careers that lead to living and career building employment.
Although apprenticeships serve as a pathway into careers across industries, many adult learners face barriers to accessing them. Pre-apprenticeships break down these barriers by equipping adult learners with the knowledge and skills they need to enter and succeed in apprenticeships — which can expand access to rewarding careers within Connecticut and across the United States.
